The deeply empathetic and moving story brought to life by a richly talented Miami production team stars Owen Miller (Netflix “Killer Cove”), and WWE superstar Paul Wight (Netflix “The Big Show Show”). Co-star and performing artist Katana Malone will be making her feature film debut including two powerful
recordings for the film’s soundtrack.

The Miami Film Festival World Premiere is set to take place Saturday March 7th at 6:45 PM at the historic MDC’s Tower Theater located at 1508 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135 and offers a second showing at 9:50 PM.

MARCUS is a drama following a man with a checkered past and an unstable present, as he struggles
mightily with mental illness. When unexpected findings bring a new opportunity for him, he decides to
right old wrongs and make amends. He leaves his life behind and sets off on a journey to find purpose,
forgiveness and redemption. But Marcus will have to face the consequences of his past life and
overcome the greatest obstacle of all in order to find happiness: Himself.

“The idea for MARCUS started with a guy sitting in a car in the rain. Then my emotions took over,
molding and twisting it into something extremely personal. I, too, had been in my head before and the
voices were real. The struggle was real; thus MARCUS became very, very real,” said writer/director
J.R. Poli.

Owen Miller added “whether we are inclined to admit it or not, we’ve all had thoughts, dark thoughts,
that if acted on, would be disastrous. But that does not define us, it is just a rather trying moment in our
lives; Marcus is no different.”

The film will also be launching a social media campaign based on MARCUS, which is also an acronym
for “Make a Real Connection Understanding Symptoms” with the hopes that the #MARCUSChallenge
will heighten the awareness and conversation on mental illness. — “I’m here for Marcus. Are you?”
The film will screen in competition as part of the Knight Made in MIA Feature Film Award and is also
eligible for the Jordan Ressler First Feature Award. It was produced by Jennifer Lynn Sharp, Jose
Luis Martinez, Owen Miller and J.R. Poli with cinematographer Matt Greene.
